Inspiration

In some countries, it is common that we see someone dying due to the ambulance not arriving on time, or refused ambulances because they simply cannot afford it. In this world we have advanced technology considerably in recent years, but we have also neglected a lot of areas that would overall contribute to the betterment of society; One such problem is the lack of accessibility of ambulances. In our world poorly managed resources and lack of regulation affects emergency responses. This affects everyone when we need to get access to an ambulance during a healthcare emergency, the most serious problems of which is the response time and the price of calling and using an ambulance. Even though we have regulations on the pricing of these emergency response services, they are still charging a ridiculous amount. It is a threat to the society that we don't have an assurance for an ambulance when we need it. Also we lack a proper network of these emergency vehicles. A network of these vehicles can be used to determine the quality of emergency response, make a centralized network to monitor the traffic and make the best routes for the ambulances to reach the location faster, and create a proper dataset on the usage of ambulances for research purposes and the improvements needed in the healthcare system. With a centralized system of ambulances and employees, many policies can be implemented that will benefit everybody.

Problems

Difficult for patients to connect with ambulances.

Ambulance charges out of pockets.

Leads to delay in treatment.

No proper network of ambulances.

Shortage of ambulances.(experimental feature)

No proper dataset in determining the casualties happening due to ambulance delays.

Huge response time in emergency landlines.

Solution

Connecting users to nearest ambulances within a few seconds with just a few clicks.

Following proper norms on ambulance pricing to make sure everyone can afford it. And reduce our profits at night to decrease the price for customer satisfaction.

Building a huge chain of existing ambulance drivers and providing them with more customers and opportunities like technology advancements.

Partnering with companies like ‘The Boring Company’ to make underground tunnels to make sure ambulances don’t get stuck on the road and reach the destination on time.

Converting old and scrap cars to advanced electric ambulances to solve ambulance shortages and ensure more ambulances are available.

Using our datasets by the users we can set up cloud ambulances in the future which will be ready in places where it’s needed the most, maybe a place where people are falling ill or near hospitals with a huge demand to reduce the timeline for getting emergency response.

Our platform reduces the wait time for booking services like ambulances from minutes to seconds.

Impact

Around 140k+ people die year due to delay or due to out of pocket pricing.

Around 19k+ more ambulances are needed in the next 2 years to cope up with shortages for waves against pandemic.

Making ambulances more smart and sustainable by converting them to electric and with tech advancements.

Revolutionizing ambulance transport with underground tunnels and maybe for other emergency vehicles also in future.

Building a global centralized network of ambulances and making a new proper system for this emergency response which we are lacking.

Cloud Ambulance System can eventually make the concept of a 5 mins ambulance into a reality.

Adjusting the issue of shortage of ambulances in a cheaper way by converting old cars and recycling them to electric ambulances and moving towards sustainability.

What it does

It's a platform for patients or patient party to book ambulances within seconds, using just a few clicks and at an affordable cost with various options like ambulance with/without doctors/ or oxygen support, etc. It's interface is simple like a normal ride share app. Users can also help to support the emergency response sector by donating their old or scrap cars which they don't use and plan to sell it, we will convert those into electric ambulances with advanced tech features. Also the data being collected from the ambulance parking cameras and dash cams can be used to make automated ambulances in future which will run on autopilot.

How we built it

We made a design system on figma to give an idea on how our platform will work. But as we are new to web development, we created a system for now to locate the nearest hospitals(for now only in New Delhi) and in the near future we expect to make it into the big project as mentioned above and shown in the figma design.

Story of a Person who will use ManPulance

Raj called up 911 for an ambulance and his call was picked up after 10 mins. Then he was sent an ambulance which reached his place after 1 hour and that caused delay in treatment due to which he now requires additional treatment for one more month. But when he learned about ManPulance, he said about it to his community and friends as he didn't want the situation to happen with others which happened to him. A few weeks later Raj and his friend Alex were roaming together in a park where suddenly Alex started to have a cardiac arrest, seeing this Raj booked an ambulance on ManPulance which took him only 30 secs and the nearest ambulance arrived in 3 mins, when they reached the hospital the doctors said them that they have brought him in time or else a delay of few minutes would have taken his life. Now seeing the impact made by ManPulance, Alex got to know about 'Car to ManPulance' program and thought that he should give up his old Toyota Corolla here rather than selling it as this may save someone's life from a life threatening situation. This is how our platform can make impact on the society and save everyone's life using a simple everyday tool like mobile phone while still generating a profit.

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult for us to plan the business strategies to make sure that there's a customer satisfaction and affordability and profit at the same time. Also developing it was also kind of a hassle as we had an electric blackout which reduced our time to work in the hackathon. But still out of so many problems our idea was successfully implemented in the form of a visual prototype and we were able to make a tool to locate the nearest hospitals which will be implemented into the main platform in the future.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make a figma prototype and a tool within a short time. Also we came up with a business idea which can be implemented as a real startup idea.

What we learned

We got to know a lot about the healthcare system and transportation. This also gave us an opportunity to brainstorm on the loopholes in the healthcare system which is almost untouched for years and needed a solution. Also we learned some new development skills like using map api and js development.

What's next for ManPulance

In the next few months we aim to make a pilot testing platform for it and ask beta testers to use it and fix all the issues we would be having. We aim to make it into a full fledged platform after the pilot testing and also host a separate app for drivers to connect. We will encourage them with the benefits they will be receiving from our platform if they drive their ambulance with our platform and partnering with hospitals for more access to the emergency response sector. After this we also plan to setup a manufacturing plant with partnerships from car companies to convert scrap cars into electric ambulances. Then after we get a huge database we will work on to implement the idea of cloud ambulance in the coming future.

Unfinished Hack

Our team was formed 4hrs after the hackathon with people having 3 different timezones i.e IST, CST and PST So we decided to go for creating a visual prototype and one of the functionality as a web app. So in our website we completed the signup and login , also gave out the feature for the conversion of normal cars to ambulance And another feature to see the nearest hospitals with map . But we really wanted to make a full functional react native mobile app with all the features. In the near future after the hackathon we aim to make this into a complete platform with partnerships.

Google cloud

We have used google map to locate the nearby hospital and firebase for authenthication with signup and login and storing the database of car to manipulance part
