Hackathon Proposal: Manifest for PacksLight
Submission for: RevenueCat Shipyard Creator Contest Creator Brief: Gabby Beckford (PacksLight) App Name: Manifest Domain: manifest.solar Platforms: iOS, Android, Web
Problem Statement
Gabby Beckford's community is full of ambitious dreamers who want big trips, career pivots, and life upgrades — but consistently get stuck between inspiration and action. Through analysis of Gabby's content, we identified five specific barriers:
1. Financial Fear & Perceived Cost of Entry
Her audience — often students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals — believes travel and big goals require wealth they don't have. Many don't even know that Paid Travel Opportunities (PTOs) like scholarships, fellowships, and contests exist. Small application fees ($15–40) feel risky, and the fear of debt is paralyzing.
2. The Confidence Gap & Self-Rejection
Gabby's own polls show a "ridiculous majority" of her followers doom themselves before they even apply. They assume they aren't qualified, wait for friends who eventually flake, and get trapped in "what if" spirals. The result: dreams stay on Pinterest boards instead of becoming plane tickets.
3. Solo Safety Anxiety
For women — especially women of color — the fear of traveling alone is amplified by real safety concerns: harassment, navigating unfamiliar cultures, and the "what ifs" of emergencies without a support system nearby.
4. Career Burnout & the Status Quo Trap
Many in Gabby's audience are trapped in soul-crushing 9-to-5s, feeling guilty about pursuing freedom over stability. They want to quit and live differently but don't know how to start — or feel selfish for wanting to.
5. Logistical Overwhelm
Even when motivation is high, research paralysis takes over. Visa requirements, itinerary planning, remote work logistics, and information overload create enough friction that "I'll do it later" becomes "I never did it."
The core problem isn't a lack of ambition — it's a lack of a system that meets ambitious people where they are and turns their energy into forward motion.
Traditional goal apps make this worse by demanding upfront planning (dates, milestones, deadlines), adding cognitive load instead of reducing it.
User Validation — Real Voices from r/productivity
We posted to r/productivity asking: "How do you break down overwhelming life goals?" — and the responses confirmed exactly the problem Manifest solves:
"I have big goals (save $10K, travel more, level up my career), but they sit on my list forever because they feel too big to start. I've been experimenting with breaking goals into tiny daily actions — things that take 2-5 minutes. The idea is that the first step is so small it's almost embarrassing — but at least I actually do it." — OP
"My issue is more on figuring out HOW to accomplish that goal rather than just picking one... how do you figure out what to do to accomplish it, and then how do you determine that you've reached it?" — OP (reply)
"I think it also helps to just realise that as an adult this is just the standard you need to be able to do to get the life you want. You need to really execute these small things. Do it for you — you deserve them to be executed. Set it up, and then trust your past self and execute." — Community reply
"I store project-based stuff in these rectangles... I normally just pick from them, move them to a section labeled 'this week' or 'today'... once I finish something I write DONE and move them to a done section, which is also nice because I see what I'm doing over time, which feels good." — u/Specialist-Leave-349 (describing a DIY vision board workflow)
The thread reveals a clear pattern: people already want the exact workflow Manifest provides — tiny steps, "this week" scheduling, visual progress, and trust-based execution — they just don't have a tool that makes it seamless.
Solution Overview
Manifest is a vision board meets goal execution app that bridges the gap between dreaming and doing. It combines visual inspiration with AI-powered action planning and trust-based weekly execution.
Vision Boards → Action Plans
Users create Pinterest-style vision boards for their dreams — travel, career, finance, wellness, personal growth. Each board is a workspace where they collect images, links, notes, and action items. This mirrors the vision-boarding practice Gabby already advocates, but makes it executable.
AI-Powered "Unparalyze Me" ✨
When a dream feels too big to start, users tap "Unparalyze Me" and AI instantly generates a sequence of 2-minute micro-steps. The first step is always trivially easy (e.g., "Open Google Maps and search Portugal"). This directly attacks the self-rejection and overwhelm patterns Gabby identifies in her audience.
For deeper planning, AI analyzes the entire workspace — images, notes, links — to generate context-aware action plans with priorities, time estimates, and reasoning.
Structured Challenges 🏆
Pre-built challenge templates (4, 8, or 12 weeks) give users a guided path with weekly milestones:
| Challenge | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|
| First Solo Trip | 8 weeks | Travel |
| Solo Travel Safety Prep | 4 weeks | Travel |
| Side Hustle Launch | 12 weeks | Career |
| Financial Freedom Kickstart | 8 weeks | Finance |
| 30-Day Wellness Reset | 4 weeks | Wellness |
| Confidence Builder | 4 weeks | Personal Growth |
Visionary-tier users can create custom AI-generated challenges tailored to any goal.
Gamified Progress That Feels Fun 🎉
Every completed action triggers:
- Confetti celebration with particle burst animations
- Haptic feedback for physical reinforcement
- Streak tracking with animated flame counters
- Contribution graph (GitHub-style) showing consistency over time
- Rest days that don't break streaks — because Gabby's audience already puts enough pressure on themselves. Marking a "Recharge Day" keeps the streak alive while honoring the reality that rest is productive too.
Weekly check-ins review progress compassionately — reframing "Tasks Missed" as "Life got in the way" and focusing on what's possible next, not what wasn't done. This isn't toxic productivity — it's ambitious self-compassion.
Social Sharing & Collaboration 📤
- Shareable vision boards via unique links (manifest.solar/board/:code)
- Instagram Story-style share cards for celebrating wins
- Invite-only collaboration on shared boards
- Public read-only board view for web visitors (no account required)
This taps directly into Gabby's "Law of Asking" philosophy — she teaches followers to post their goals publicly to attract opportunities and accountability. Manifest makes that effortless.
Trust-Based Scheduling
Instead of rigid deadlines, users mark actions as "This Week" — a softer commitment that respects the reality that life happens. The calendar view shows what's on deck without the guilt of missed dates.
