Inspiration

Despite discipline is a must, we all need motivation to keep the momentum. Who is going to motivate you more than future, ideal version of yourself?

What it does

This project is aims to be a reminders app, where instead of a simple notifications to remind you of the reminders, you get a phone call from your future self to motivate you to do the task. We call these reminders - manifests.

How we built it

We start off by building off some backend endpoints for basic functionality of the reminders app. After that we initialised the frontend part and worked tirelessly to get the approval to get the mobile demo working on our phones. After that, realising

Challenges we ran into

Unfortunately we did not manage to finish this project. We started off planning a mobile app for this project, which is quite a straightforward choice given this is a reminders application. However, we underestimated the time and workload required to render a fully native iOS call UI that streams our desired AI video generated output. The AI video generated output of the future self also gave us a lot of headache. We did a lot of research regarding which models to use, going through ElevenLabs, Minimax and then finally settling on HeyGen. However, when implementing the backend endpoints we kept running into bugs with the video generation, and didn't manage to get it to work in time. The unfinished backend and frontend sit in the backend and frontend folders in the Github repo. We also used AWS as our database, and file storage for audio and image files, and we were planning to deploy our backend on AWS as well.

What does work in the project is a python prototype - with your name, gender and future occupation we can connect you to your future self comfortably, talking through and understanding your struggles. The python code is generating a background for you through Minimax and sending the same over to 11Eleven Labs where the agent trained in the user's voice returns to help.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of how we are quite close to a working prototype despite some bugs stopping us during development. The whole dev team has learnt a lot and we are proud of how come we have far.

What we learned

We have learned that we need to ideate a lot faster, as our group came up with this idea quite late. We also underestimated how time consuming a mobile app demo would take.

What's next for Manifest
