Inspiration
Meal planning apps, recipe recommendations, food preferences, pantry tracking, and online shopping
What it does
Meal planning apps often focus on diet plans only without considering the user’s dietary restrictions, budgets, and lifestyle. Users often have to keep track in meticulous detail of their own preferences, losing user retention for apps like these due to how tedious and time-consuming it is to take into account all of these factors.
For sensory sensitive people, those with an avoidant or restrictive food intake, anxious eaters, sometimes the barrier isn’t calories but textures, smell, and the cognitive load of cooking itself.
Our app, Mane Plate helps users build momentum with their habits by providing meal plans, delivering shopping assistance, and tracking health oriented goals all in one. Our goal is to aid users to keep their food goals sustainable for the long run.
How we built it
This app was created as a design concept in Figma, the free online design software.
Challenges we ran into
Scope creep, time limits making it difficult to implement a full-scale app, level of coding skill for developing apps
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overall design and aesthetic of the app, intractable demo
What we learned
Focus on value proposition, users, and stakeholders when it comes to developing a product. It’s important how you communicate to your audience the value and need for your product. It matters less about the technical functions of the product if as a concept it’s unnecessary.
What's next for Mane Plate
The goal for this demo is to show a design concept of what a user focused meal planning and organization app could look like. Mane Plate’s next steps involve a coding implementation with iPhone support.
