Inspiration
- My biggest inspiration is my mentor who is letting me learn from him by working on his very big react application. He pushes me to learn everyday.
- I hope to apply things I learned (coding, and intrapersonal) to his work because it is very exciting.
- Why I specifically picked a fitness app? My high school didn't have any sports. Although I learned a lot in my studies based school, I also value my physical health, and it was very hard to learn more about physical health with little access to it.
What it does
- Gives personalized workouts based on what muscle group the user wants to work out, additionally, it also gives the user youtube tutorial links for each exercise
How we built it
- The entire application is done with react. UI is mostly Material UI. Two APIs from rapid API were used.
Challenges we ran into
- Dynamic routing = would be verry inefficient to link YouTube videos for each exercise individually, so had to figure out
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Dynamic routing used a lot = to access different components using same function
What we learned
- How to use tools in the react libraries efficiently
- How to use react components efficiently
What's next for Manav Fitness Club
- Do a lot more learning. I definitely don't understand everything about this app, but Mr. Radman inspired me to create a lot more. I really loved his approach to create things regardless of countless failures.
- Short term goals: Add a search bar component, figure out how I could approach getting accurate youtube videos for all exercises
- Medium term goals: How to have more user interaction. Tracking other things like stats of their past lifts? How can user send tutorial videos to friends?
- Long term goals: Free to use mobile app with all the above implementations
