Inspiration
Rihla (رحلة) is the Islamic tradition of traveling to seek knowledge. Muslim students make that journey every year, but on campus it leaves no trace. You show up to an MSA halaqa, a career night, or a transfer workshop, and nothing records it. A student two campuses over who already made the transfer you're planning is invisible to you. And the platforms we'd normally use (LinkedIn, Discord, GroupMe) mix brothers and sisters by default.
Manara West serves 65 campuses, but it had no way in for students, no reason for them to stay, and no live view of which MSAs were connected and which were fading. We wanted to give every student a Student Passport: their journey, their profile, and their network, with Islamic values built in from the start.
What it does
- Student Passport. Check in to an MSA event with its code and earn a stamp. Stamps feed four tracks (Career, Leadership, Transfer, Deen), unlock badges, and move you up through levels.
- Connect & chat. Find peers, mentors, and MSA leaders across campuses. Brothers and sisters have separate spaces, so there's no free mixing.
- Campus Leader dashboard. MSAs create events and co-host across campuses, so community colleges and 4-year schools plan together.
- Admin live map. Manara admins see every campus, every event, and every link between MSAs, and can connect campuses that should be working together.
- Ask Rihla. An AI assistant that helps students find events and people.
What's next
Real Manara SSO, QR check-ins, mentor matching for transfer students, and health alerts on the admin map for campuses whose activity is fading.
