Inspiration
I was inspired to make my project because many students don't know how to manage their time properly (including me). I think a lot of people don't realize how much time they waste every day, and I hope my project can help jump students into reality and help them manage their time better.
What it does
Users put in an assignment/activity they are currently working on and a timer starts. If the user wants to take a break, they can click the "break" button and a new timer starts that counts how long they are resting. Once users are ready to start working again, they end their break and the timer continues. Once the user is finished with his assignment, the computer writes down all the information it gathered (how long the user spent on the assignment, which assignment it was, and how long they were resting).
How we built it
I built my project using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. HTML served as the body of the project, CSS as the designs, and Javascript as the brains behind how everything functioned. I use repl and sublime text to run my code and test it.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges I ran into were designing my project to look nice and run smoothly with everything else. There were also a lot of technical difficulties and bugs I kept running into with my project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that I managed to persevere through the tough challenges I faced and got through to the end. I'm also happy with how I managed my time and how my project turned out given I only had 24 hours to work on it.
What we learned
I learned that if there is a situation or a challenge that you just can't overcome, you need to find a different way around it. Whenever I got stuck on a challenge that stumped me for even hours sometimes, I find a different way to look at the problem and thus address it with a different method.
What's next for Managely
Since I plan on using Mangely for helping out with my own time management, I hope to improve it in several ways in the future. First, I would like to design it in a much better way where everything looks and feels a lot smoother to use. Second I would like to add many quality of life improvements such as a place where I can view my past information (how my time management was say a week ago) and a place where the computer gives me an overall summary about what I did that day.
