Inspiration

This was the problem given to us by the datathon supervisors. We decided to participate in the first place to learn more about datathons, and get our feet wet with this type of competition.

What it does

Our project essentially takes data from the U.S census, and breast cancer facilities across the nation, in order to determine where to best allocate future funds to bolster the ability to get mammograms across the country.

How we built it

We built it using python and the pandas library, along with many other to parse through, and analyze the data.

Challenges we ran into

We came into the competition having nearly zero experience with this type of problem, so figuring our way around was tough. We also spent a large amount of time writing a machine learning algorithm to train a model to predict future data, but we later learned that this was not required and in fact, discouraged.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how much we learned throughout this entire experience.

What we learned

We learned how to extensively use pythons pandas library, as well as many others to analyze and visualize data.
