Inspiration

The spark came from home. Even though my wife is a PhD holder, she struggled to use AI in her daily life as a new mother. Sleepless nights, endless questions, and the emotional weight of early motherhood inspired me to build a gentle, AI-powered companion that truly understands mothers’ needs.

What it does

MamaMeow combines three powerful features in one playful app:

Track → Feeding, sleep, and development with a sweet, pastel-toned baby tracker.

Learn → Curated podcasts and educational content for moms.

Ask AI → A smart, catty AI assistant ready to answer any parenting questions with empathy.

How we built it

We used Kiro to break the project into sessions and sections. Hooks helped generate the project’s documentation, while Kiro learned our file structures, coding standards, and services — making it easy to spin up new pages, models, and Firebase services. For interactivity, we integrated GPT APIs with voice and image inputs/outputs, so moms can interact with AI naturally.

Challenges we ran into

Kiro’s documentation did not provide enough hook examples, so we struggled to find the right hooks for our project. In the end, we limited ourselves to generating project documentation.

Implementing GPT with both audio and visual input/output required balancing cost, performance, and UX design.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

MamaMeow is the first AI-backed Mom Assistant application that combines baby tracking, educational podcasts, and an empathetic AI Q&A into one experience.

What we learned

How to combine cutting-edge AI with the emotional needs of mothers.

That building AI apps isn’t only about algorithms, but about trust, warmth, and accessibility.

Modular design (sessions, hooks, Firebase services) makes scaling easier.

What's next for MamaMeow:Track, Learn & Ask AI

Our next milestone is interactive podcasts. Moms will be able to pause a podcast at any moment, ask a question to the AI, and get an immediate answer — making learning truly dynamic and personalized.
