Inspiration

Members of our team have personally witnessed how miscarriages can devastate a mother's mental health. The emotional bond between a mother and her baby forms early — and losing that bond is traumatic. Too often, doctors would say "if we had known sooner, we could have saved the baby." That heartbreaking reality inspired us to build MamaGuard — a system that detects pregnancy emergencies before it is too late. We also understand that once a miscarriage begins, it cannot be stopped — at that stage MamaGuard shifts its focus to ensuring the tissue passes safely and that no infection develops, protecting the mother's health every step of the way.

What it does

MamaGuard continuously monitors 3 key pregnancy hormones using a wearable patch sensor:

When levels deviate from these ranges, MamaGuard immediately alerts the mother through an AI-powered dashboard. It is important to understand that once a miscarriage begins, it cannot be stopped — at that stage, MamaGuard shifts its focus to ensuring the tissue passes safely and that no infection develops, protecting the mother's health every step of the way.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was making the AI smart enough to distinguish a normal hormone fluctuation from a genuine emergency signal — and to respond appropriately at every stage of the pregnancy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a system that combines a physical wearable device, AI, and a real-time dashboard into one seamless solution. Most importantly we built something that could one day save lives and protect mothers.
