Inspiration

I was inspired to build this project because of the quantum computer that we have on campus. As a new and upcoming technology, I find it important to try and understand how to use it and build with it.

What it does

The project uses a classical methods and a quantum simulator to be able to detect malware attacks.

How we built it

I built the project in a Jupyter notebook using python and Julia.

Challenges we ran into

There were many issues of deciding which parts of the data to keep and which parts to take out; it took a lot of trial and error to decide. Another big problem was trying to run on the actual quantum hardware, because there were many restrictions that we had to work with.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of the fact that I was able to get the simulator working in a relatively short amount of time.

What we learned

We learned that classical quantum hybrid models might be a promising way to improve our current ability to train machine learning models.

What's next for Malware Detection with Quantum Machine Learning

I hope to train the model on more datasets so that we can build a more accurate model.
