Inspired by the beauty of music and its connections to math, we decided to showcase a collection of chords produced from the digits of pi! We are both avid pianists, so we thought the idea of bringing together our interests of music, math, and coding for this project would be interesting.
As first-time hackers, it was challenging but also very exciting to complete a project from the bottom up within the time constraint. It was also our first time working with music/audio processing, so there was definitely a learning curve that we overcame in the process. Selecting the correct notes that would be played in each chord was also challenging, as it was necessary to broaden the scale to multiple key signatures. Each digit from pi generates a chord consisting of three notes. The digit corresponds to the interval from the tonic note of the key chosen.
