Inspiration

Public project development progress gets lost on Twitter, GitHub doesn't tell the full story, and Discord updates disappear. MakerPath gives builders a permanent home where the journey matters as much as the destination.

What it does

It lets builders showcase projects, write Vibe Logs, and earn real DOT tips, while supporters can follow creators, give feedback, and send onchain messages, all highlighted in a live Community Pulse feed.

How we built it

We built it using Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS, with Polkadot powering wallet integration, onchain tipping, project creation, and real-time activity through Dedot SDK and Talisman Connect — chosen for its low costs, fast finality, Asset Hub, and great developer tools.

Challenges we ran into

  • Wallet connection complexity
  • Transaction amount conversion
  • State management across client/server
  • Transaction status tracking
  • Mock data vs real backend
  • RPC endpoint reliability
  • Mobile responsiveness

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully shipped the full MVP of MakerPath, delivering a smooth and intuitive experience for builders from day one. The platform includes seamless Polkadot wallet integration, allowing users to connect instantly without friction, and fully functional onchain tipping that lets supporters send real DOT directly to creators.

What we learned

Dedot proved to be an excellent SDK, Next.js 15 gave us incredible flexibility, and wallet integration turned out to be much easier than expected. From a product perspective, we discovered that builders deeply value permanence and financial support must be effortless to truly empower creators. At the ecosystem level, we saw firsthand how much Polkadot’s developer experience has improved, and how its low fees open the door to entirely new onchain use cases.

What's next for MakerPath

In the short term, we’re adding an AI assistant for cleaner updates, better media handling, smarter search, analytics, and real notifications to keep the community connected. In medium term, we plan to introduce NFT achievement badges, feedback bounties, team collaboration features, and a dedicated mobile app to make building on the go effortless. For long term, MakerPath will evolve into a full creator economy with education tools, a marketplace, grants, internationalization, and deeper integrations across the Polkadot ecosystem
