Inspiration
While thinking of issues that are faced in the cosmetics and beauty product shopping experience, we considered the difficulty that anyone with a disability might face when searching for the right product.
- Determining if the product is usable for you.
- Reducing the challenges that one might face during the in-person shopping experience.
We did a lot of research of what's on the market - who's producing these accessible products? We even went to a large beauty store to examine the layout and test out some product applicators. There was no solution that unified accessibility information, so we felt that there was room for a service like MakeAble.
Proposed Implementation
This is a cross-platform application: A user can make the most out of MakeAble by creating an account to keep easily discover products that work for them by creating a custom profile, and tabs on the products they care about. Additionally, products can be discovered easily through browsing a store and them being added to your profile.
With the app, new features are unlocked, like -in-store navigation if the business adds their store -discovering stores that are accessible to your needs -3D / AR views of products to understand their dimensions.
For Retailers: The use case we propose will be for e-commerce cosmetic stores to implement it on their platform - users can review accessibility features that have reviews from real users. By adding store maps to their profile, retailers can enable users with various disabilities to be able to visit their stores with ease.
*For Products/Companies: * A company can make a profile to enrich the user experience of their product. By adding accessibility tags, usability descriptions, and 3d models, a company can help their products become more visible to consumers who want to need to know the details.
