Our target audience is stakeholders in the Baltimore City Public Schools who are interested and involved in transportations issues and who influence policy, routing and funding.

We propose to spend the 8 weeks working with the school system and transportation specialists to visualize the current system as a whole and try to see any problems that exist. We'd make several different maps that tackle different aspects of the problem and use them as discussion starters for new conversations with BCPS transportation experts.

We would also create visualizations that propose potential solutions to any problems that we identify. We'd work with BCPS to visualize potential solutions that they come up with as well.

Data needs: routes for everything (from routing software?). School locations. Student homes.

How we'd use the money: possibly for amazon cloud processing of large data sets. Also possibly for hiring a transportation engineering grad student (from Morgan State via one of our team members) to fill in missing pieces in expertise in mapping or data processing.
