Inspiration

Make English Easy was inspired by a real and urgent gap we kept seeing in the Vietnamese immigrant community in the U.S. There are more than 2.3 million Vietnamese people in the United States, and a large portion of this population still faces English barriers that affect daily communication, confidence, job mobility, integration, and access to important systems such as education, healthcare, and citizenship preparation.

We built this project because we believe English should not feel like a wall. It should become a bridge to a better life.

What it does

Make English Easy is an English-learning platform designed to help Vietnamese immigrants in the U.S. improve practical speaking skills for real life. Instead of focusing only on theory, the platform emphasizes communication that learners can use immediately in everyday situations such as introducing themselves, speaking with others, handling daily tasks, and building confidence step by step.

The platform combines structured lessons, practical speaking support, and community-based learning so users do not have to learn alone. Today, Make English Easy has already built a growing paid learning community with more than 900 members and over $300 in monthly recurring revenue, showing early proof that learners are willing to stay engaged beyond free content.

How we built it

We built Make English Easy by combining teaching experience, real learner insights, and digital community tools. The project was shaped around the real struggles our target users face, especially learners who know some English but do not feel confident using it in conversation.

We designed the learning experience to be simple, practical, and encouraging. Our approach focuses on clear explanations, repetition, speaking practice, and relatable examples that match real-life immigrant experiences in the U.S.

Beyond the curriculum itself, we built MEE through active community building, live teaching, and ongoing feedback from learners. Across platforms, our educational content has grown to more than 40,000 followers and over 3 million monthly views. That traction has allowed us to test which messages resonate, which content converts interest into action, and what kinds of support learners need most to continue learning.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing something that is not just educational, but also accessible and motivating for adult learners with busy schedules. Many learners feel shy, afraid of making mistakes, or overwhelmed by traditional English materials.

Another challenge was creating a model that keeps learning practical and community-driven rather than passive. We wanted to avoid building just another content library. Instead, we aimed to create a supportive environment where learners feel guided, seen, and encouraged to keep going.

We also faced the challenge of turning attention into long-term retention. Reaching millions of views is one thing; building a system that consistently moves users from free content into active learning and paid membership is much harder. That challenge pushed us to focus not just on visibility, but on product experience, community engagement, and learner outcomes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that this project is rooted in a real community need and shaped by lived experience. More importantly, we have already seen strong early signals of product-market validation.

Make English Easy has built an audience of more than 40,000 followers, generated over 3 million monthly views, grown a community of more than 900 members, and started producing over $300 in monthly recurring revenue. These are important milestones because they show that the problem is real, the audience is reachable, and the solution is resonating.

We are not building from theory alone. We are building from direct market response.

What we learned

We learned that for this audience, confidence matters just as much as curriculum. Learners do not only need lessons. They need a system that feels practical, human, and relevant to their daily lives.

We also learned that community can be a powerful part of language learning. When learners feel supported, they are much more likely to stay engaged and grow.

Another key lesson is that content can attract attention, but transformation requires structure. Growing to 40,000+ followers and 3M+ monthly views taught us how to reach people. Building a paid community with recurring revenue taught us how to keep them engaged.

What's next for Make English Easy

Our next step is to continue improving the learning experience, expand practical lesson content, strengthen community engagement, and reach more Vietnamese immigrants across the U.S.

In the near term, we want to grow from our current base of 900+ members and over $300+ MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue) into a stronger recurring learning business with higher retention and clearer conversion from free content to paid membership. Long term, we want Make English Easy to become a trusted platform that helps learners not only study English, but truly use it to unlock better jobs, stronger communication, and greater opportunity in life.
