Inspiration
Looking at the hackathon I knew I had to create a game. Games were my respite during the entire phase of a pandemic. Since they kept me happy it was certain that the game is what I would have to create. At the drawing board I went and created a game with the pandemic as the context.
What it does
It is a game. You are tasked to keep the viruses away from each other until the timer runs out.
How I built it
I built it using the Unity Game engine and using C# as the primary Scripting language.
Challenges I ran into
Using unity and C# in conjunction with each other seemed to be an issue at the beginning. Finding assets to use in-game and level design is another huge challenge.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The fact that I was able to create a functioning game in the two days of a hackathon gives me immense satisfaction. It shows that I could try my hands at GameJams. Granted I need a lot of practice but this seems to be a good first step.
What I learned
I learned C#, Unity and how to make a game.
What's next for Maintain The Distance
I would like to add more levels and add more visual flare to the game.
