Inspiration
It has become a reoccurring experience to casually experience A.I. generated videos on social media. Furthermore, misinformation has always been around. Most of us don't have the time to fact check everything we see or read. Thus, we were inspired by the looming threat that is A.I. and the overall diffusion of misinformation. Artificial Intelligence is contributing to misinformation more than ever, and it is only becoming more advanced. Our product aims to combat misinformation and make individuals alert of the credibility of their digital intake in an easy and effective manner. Also Inspired by extensions like Grammarly, our app's popups and widgets are here to protect current and future generations from inevitably falling into the trap of A.I. and misinformation.
What it does
(mAI-D) is made to be your personal analysis tool for everything that involves misinformation- whether it be a tiktok made by AI, a biased news article, lies you see on the internet, or scam messages/calls. It can estimate the likelihood of it being AI, it's credibility, its bias. It could have the capabilities to detect videos, photos, and audio made by AI.
How we built it
Using Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio Community, and Chrome extensions. We analyze data from the application/tab you are on for misinformation and bias within Visual Studio. The results are sent to your widget/extension and is visualized.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into problems with Visual Studio Code not being able to compile and run our program (we haven't used this application before); We also had trouble understanding how to use github; We had difficulties setting up the chrome extension front end; we had to learn how to use figma; We had to find a solution to transport and translate information from the C++ backend to the front end on chrome; We had to deal with Applications not working correctly; We had to deal with using capcut and its video glitching.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of making a working chrome extension, and making a phone/desktop prototype through figma. We are also proud of the amount of research we put into the problems that sparked our idea.
What we learned
