We built this project using an opensource library called fastai. We learned new ways to use opencv and an easy way to create a machine learning image classifier. We faced challenges with package dependencies and the accuracy was really low in the beginning but we managed to bring it up to around 80%. We also tried using scikit learn but did not have any success in that area.

Cross contamination in the trash sorting process is a large problem today, having harmful environmental effects. Our project utilizes a machine learning algorithm to increase accuracy.
