Inspiration
Deaf child left for hours in domestic abuse case. American Red Cross have stated that they can treat and prevent PTSD, but what is most effective- and crucial- is arriving and intervening at the moment of trauma to prevent PTSD in the first place using Psychological First Aid.
What it does
Providing immediate intervention and prevention in the hands of first responders to aid trauma victims before trauma scars the brain permanently. It also increases reporting in a timely manner by automating their reports and is a cost efficient tool for underfunded agencies who are not trained in mental health.
How I built it
Hybrid app using Javascript and jQuery. The user registration is connected to mongoDB database with API
Challenges I ran into
Ensuring each feature has a purpose that is both simple for the user and delivers the intervention in all options when it is most crucial. Determining what language is appropriate.
What I learned
We learned how to work together with all of our different skills to create an application with a range of diversity in clients.
What's next for Magnetic
Can be implemented at any level of community health response, even for the individual consumer, and is scalable nationally. Many organizations are interested in the impact and efficiency of this idea, as well as the implementation of this idea through functional technology. Partnership with Disney games through functional relationship with OC Family Justice Center and Anaheim PD. Mental Health Services Act, AB 114 – $83.6 million in LA by 2020 Veteran’s Administration is heavily invested in new technologies.
