Inspiration

Work a lot? Have kids? Just lazy? Sometimes we just don't have the time or willpower to meal plan and grocery shop -- this product aims to keep you from ordering Uber Eats while still saving you time and money.

What it does

magiKart automatically generates a meal plan for you based on an input number of people, caloric requirements and a number of days then populates ready-to-ship shopping cart from your local grocer.

How we built it

magiKart's UI is powered by React and its core logic makes use of APIs hosted by Spoontacular and Kroger.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest barrier to our progress was making sense of the two APIs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We submitted a nontrivial project that has a market of at least a few people (all our devs could see themselves using the product)

What we learned

The entire dev team got hands-on with unfamiliar technologies across the tech stack. From digging deeper than ever into React to getting hands on with new APIs, there was really something new and exciting for everyone.

What's next for magiKart

The next evolution of magiKart should offer the ability to store/track current ingredients and build meal plans with that in mind. That means less food wasted and more money saved.
