Inspiration

We saw a common need in visual design: quickly isolating subjects and creating depth without complex tools. Traditional methods were often time-consuming for casual users.

What it does

MagicFocus Addon for Adobe Express allows users to instantly blur backgrounds and precisely control the focus of their images with a simple slider.

How we built it

We leveraged Adobe Express's extensibility API and integrated a real-time image processing library. The core blurring algorithm was optimized for speed within the plugin environment.

Challenges we ran into

Optimizing the blur effect for various image sizes and maintaining real-time performance within the Adobe Express sandbox was a significant challenge. Ensuring intuitive UI/UX for a complex visual effect also required iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully delivered a highly requested feature that is both powerful and incredibly easy to use. The performance optimization for real-time blurring is a major achievement.

We gained valuable insights into optimizing image processing for web-based plugins and the importance of user-centric design for visual tools.

We plan to add more advanced blurring options, depth map editing, and potentially integrate AI for smarter subject detection and segmentation.
