Inspiration
We were inspired by the notion of giving experiences to people who cannot have them.
What it does
Magic moment connects people such as long-term hospital patients and the elderly who are limited by their situation and would vastly benefit from increased human interaction. Children as long-term hospital patients would especially miss out on socialization and the experience of learning at school. Thus, we want to bring these learning and social opportunities to them through the prospect of "wishes". Patients can post their wishes which encompass their desire to learn a new creative art through the Magic Moment application, and other users in their community would be able to respond and schedule a visit to teach these arts. For example, a patient could wish to learn how to oil paint, and a member of their community who has these skills can visit and teach them how to paint a simple painting. Thus, patients can continually hone their existing passions while fulfilling their need for interaction with members of their community.
How we built it
We build a high-fidelity prototype of the application using Figma.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a challenge early on as we pivoted ideas and ran short on time. The original idea was to create a volunteer service to perform music at elderly homes, hospitals, churches, etc. But, now it has pivoted to increasing human interaction through in-person learning opportunities!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of still being able to deliver a high-fidelity prototype that conveys the experience and value of our idea despite the time limitations due to switching topics and our busy schedules this weekend.
What we learned
We learned about more complicated features in Figma such as auto-layouts, scrolling, and the creation of flows.
What's next for Magic Moment
The next step for Magic Moments is further refinement and consolidation of our designs. Due to our busy schedules, we each designed different flows for the prototype, thus showcasing our two different styles and ideas. But for a finished product, this needs to be ironed out so the application looks and performs cohesively.
