Inspiration

We believe that note-taking is an essential part of the learning process, both in and out of the classroom. During the hackathon, the majority of our teammates, and other friends outside of the event, had trouble reviewing and rewriting their notes, often nodding off until hours later. This gave us the idea of creating a more dynamic and exciting way of note-taking and studying.

What It Does

  • It is a note-taking app with a magical theme that allows users to organize and stylize their notes to retain their attention.
  • There are virtual companions, which allow users to gain experience points the longer the user takes notes, and fun minigames that are meant to give the students much-needed breaks during long studying sessions.
  • We implemented an AI feature that provides recommended topics to cover based on the user's notes.

How We Built

  • Figma was used to help establish a basic framework and idea of how we wanted our ideas to look on our computers.
  • React.js, CSS, and HTML were used set up our front-end application and were the overall design.
  • Typescript, Caluse-api, and Supabase were used heavily on the backend to create the proper save file, pet system, and AI recommendation system.

Challenges We Faced

  • We faced a lot of pressure and nervousness upon entering this hackathon for the first time.
  • We quickly ran into trouble figuring out how to work GitHub, and it forced us to take an all-nighter on the first day.

Even though our first journey through the tech world was rocky, it was nothing less than fun and we are happy with our final product!
