Inspiration

We wanted to create something fun, fast, and interactive using AI—something anyone could use in seconds. The classic Magic 8-Ball toy was the perfect inspiration.

What it does

Users type in a yes/no question, press “Ask,” and get a quirky, AI-generated response that mimics the original Magic 8-Ball experience—online and smarter.

How we built it

We used Bolt to generate a React + Tailwind CSS app. The frontend sends user questions to OpenAI’s API and displays the returned fortune in a styled card. The app is fully responsive and deployed live.

Challenges we ran into

Formatting the OpenAI prompt to keep answers short and playful took a few tries. We also had to fine-tune the UI to balance simplicity with personality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a complete, working AI-powered app from a single prompt in Bolt. It's clean, fast, and fun to use—exactly what we aimed for.

What we learned

We learned how fast AI tools like Bolt can turn ideas into working products. Also, small details like prompt wording make a big difference in the user experience.

What's next for Magic 8-Ball AI APP

We plan to add voice support, custom themes, and shareable results. A “Fortune History” log and maybe an Easter egg or two are also in the works.
