Inspiration
We are big fans of Duolingo. We were inspired by Duolingo's ability to make learning languages engaging through gamification. In that spirit, we developed Magellan to bring the same playful and interactive approach to traveling.
What it does
Magellan transforms your travel experience by providing personalized challenges that make exploring new cities exciting and fun. Enter your destination and travel dates, and connect with fellow travelers to share adventures and compete in challenges.
How we built it
To build Magellan, we first identified popular travel cities and used AI suggestions to pick out the best attractions in each city, Each attraction has a weight. E.g. the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona has the highest score because it's a must-see. We then developed an algorithm to optimize travel experiences, ensuring that travelers can achieve the highest cumulative experience weight in the limited time they have available. This optimization ensures that even on short trips, users can enjoy the best a city has to offer.We also worked hard on making the app easy to use, so you can quickly set up your trips and look back at your travel challenges.
