Inspiration
The glaring disparity in financial inclusion, especially in developing regions like Sub-Saharan Africa, inspired us to create MAFI-FINSOLUTIONS. Witnessing the struggles of underserved communities, we aimed to leverage fintech to bridge this gap and contribute to reducing poverty.
What it does
MAFI-FINSOLUTIONS provides a comprehensive mobile banking platform designed for underserved communities. It offers basic banking services, low-cost remittances, AI-driven financial advice, and in-app financial literacy modules. These features are accessible even in remote areas, thanks to offline capabilities and multilingual support.
How we built it
We began by conducting extensive research on the financial behaviors and needs of underserved populations. Our solution integrates mobile banking, low-cost remittances, AI-driven financial advice, and financial literacy modules into a single platform. Collaboration with telecom providers helped reduce data costs, ensuring affordability. The development process emphasized user-centric design, multilingual support, and offline capabilities to cater to the unique needs of our users.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges was ensuring accessibility in regions with limited internet connectivity. Implementing offline capabilities was complex but essential. Another challenge was fostering trust among users who are accustomed to informal financial systems. We addressed this through community engagement and educational initiatives, demonstrating the security and reliability of our platform.
