Inspiration

Many home owners are confused with the process to buy a new home. Many don't know what they need. Many don't know if they should wait or buy a new home now. We will help new or experienced home owners determine if it's the right time or if they should even buy a new home.

What it does

With user input, the application shows what the user is doing correctly and what they need to improve on to be able to buy a new home. Chat with Mae AI and get help for the fields you are struggling with. Adjust and play with the calculator to see what you need to do to be the next new home owner.

How we built it

We used React.js, Material UI, TailwindCSS, JavaScript, MongoDB Atlas, openAI

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble merging our code together - tons of merge conflicts. Had conflicts with Auth0 and Mongodb connections therefore we swapped and used passport/express with mongodb. We also struggled with our Mae AI in which the chat would consistently re-run the same chat message and prevent us from continuing the chat.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a working calculator where users can determine if they are ready to own a new home. We also created a working AI chat named Mae AI that allows the user to chat and ask questions on what to improve on towards their home ownership. We provided useful links to the appropriate struggle the user needs help with.

What we learned

Always start with a solid design before you start coding. Logical design help us a lot at the beginning when we swapped to design.

What's next for MaeBe Home

We want to be able to create a dashboard where the user can see their progress towards being able to own a new home. As well as a community system where users can chat and help each other as well.
