MadFunding

Inspiration

We came into this hackathon wanting to learn something completely new. We saw that Hedera was one of the prize categories, and we thought we would just try out something completely new. That was our inspiration for using Hedera. We decided on a GoFundMe like platform because we felt that making online transactions like that would play to the strengths of Hedera.

What it does

MadFunds is a crowdfunding platform where users can create fundraisers, and donate to other's fundraisers.

How we built it

We built the frontend using React.js, and the backend is handled with Next.js and Hedera.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into major challenges when trying to figure out how to correctly store our data on the blockchain. We had no knowledge of how blockchain works beforehand, so it was a very very steep learning curve.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to successfully create a smart contracts and access it correctly.

What we learned

We came into this hackathon with 0 knowledge of how blockchain works, so we learned a lot about how information is stored and can be utilized with blockchain technology.

What's next for MadFunding

Implementing user accounts so that user's can receive the money their fundraiser gets. Also, moving it off of Hedera's test servers and into real servers so that real transactions occur.
