MAD Print

Inspiration

We are common users of 3D printing, so combining the ease of access of Google Home and the utility of 3D printing was an easy choice for a project.

Using MAD Print, all that is necessary to print is to tell your Google Assistant or Google Home, "print x", and it will print it.

Using IFTTT alongside a webhook, several servers, an SQL database, and Python scripts, the printing request is converted from text to material.

Interfacing software and hardware in ways that are not frequently done caused the majority of our difficulty.

Add improved UI and features to make the system more user-friendly.

I worked on documenting the whole process. I recorded the fails, and success along the way. I recorded and edited the final video, and uploaded it to YouTube.

I worked on interfacing the 3d printer with the raspberry pi, and the raspberry pi with a my sql server. I also did the majority of the mysql database setup, and connections to the the public host and local host from the tables.

David Bower
I worked on interfacing the Google Home with a web server using IFTTT, writing the PHP code for the web server, and creating the python script for interfacing our local computer with an offsite SQL database to 3D print the Google Home request.
