Inspiration
Our inspiration came from brainstorming ideas; after shortlisting a top three, a mentor from Fetch suggested that our idea for connecting neighborhoods would be best. We felt that this blended the best of both coding and applicability.
What it does
Homeowners can login on our platform to then check-out common items within their community, for example lawnmowers, car sharing, camping gear, sports equipment, or anything else!
How we built it
Backend: Google Cloud, MySQL, certbot, springboot, Java Frontend: React.js, HTML, CSS
Challenges we ran into
Creating users was one of out biggest challenges. There were multiple errors that we kept running into and it took two hours to fix! Learning React on the go was a fun, yet interesting, challenge. We used various tutorials and lots of Google to help us with the frontend implementation.
What we learned
Each of us learned various things depending on what we worked on. Overall, our biggest learnings were understanding how to code with React, understanding how to connect Google Cloud with our code, and integrating all the technologies.
