Inspiration
The initial project inspiration came from struggling to coordinate care for our elderly parents. Since 2012, Rodney and Lori Hoinkes have been making notes and plotting a solution they nicknamed 'MABEL', an acronym for Make A Better Life Everyday.
In late September, Sam Singer suggested we participate in DementiaHack and we knew it was time to bring MABEL to life.
As we began our research, we kept finding more and more gaps in what is known about early and pre-Dementia individuals. Where we wanted to innovate there was an even further a lack of data, research, and concrete knowledge. We decided we needed to do something about this huge issue! So we developed A Care Management System that provides a powerful platform for dementia research.
Our comprehensive system ensures we will have plenty of eager potential research contributors. Much as ResearchKit has shown what an appetite for support there is for citizen science, we are ensuring our solution is excellent for Basic and Applied Researchers, while providing the data through normal use, not exotic or complex experiments.
