Inspiration
We wanted to find a way to implement music into our everyday lives that is also applicable in many environments. First, we imagined how music can indicate fatigue in endurance tasks, such as weight-lifting. But we decided to demonstrate this functionality with varying sound.
What it does
Our product records an acceleration signal and recreates it real-time based on movement into an instrument-like sin wave.
How we built it
We built it by attaching an accelerometer to an Arduino, spending a majority of our time working out the math algorithms on the IDE for instrument like tones.
Challenges we ran into
We were unfamiliar with most hardware and software applications so we had to navigate them ourselves first before we can use them for our project. Sometimes, we did not know what was wrong and had to troubleshoot, which took a lot of patience and time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our abilities to develop our idea into real-life without changing our idea too much.
What we learned
We learned how to combine our skills together as a team and utilize our strengths to create a product we are all proud of.
What's next for M-Wrist
One thing we can work on with M-Wrist is adding a function where users can remix their default sounds. Another thing we can add is bluetooth functionality so that the sounds can be recorded and used to track movement patterns for health as well as making sounds for musical application.
