Inspiration
At M-TREAT, our inspiration stems from the urgent need to bridge the healthcare gap in Africa and beyond, especially in underserved rural areas. We are driven by the vision of a connected healthcare system that ensures no one is left behind, regardless of location or economic status.
What it does
M-TREAT is an innovative online healthcare platform that connects patients with hospitals, pharmacies, and healthcare professionals across Africa. It provides seamless access to medications, healthcare services, and vital health resources, ensuring fast, reliable, and affordable healthcare delivery.
How we built it
We built M-TREAT using a combination of modern technologies:
- Backend: Python and Django for robust and scalable server-side logic.
- Frontend: React and Redux for a dynamic and responsive user interface.
- Databases: PostgreSQL for structured data and Amazon RDS for database management.
- Cloud Services: AWS S3 bucket for media storage and Azure for hosting.
- Version Control: GitHub for collaboration and code management.
Challenges we ran into
Developing M-TREAT has several challenges. We are facing:
- hard time integrating multiple healthcare services into a single platform.
- Ensuring data security and privacy for sensitive medical information.
- Establishing reliable logistic systems for fast delivery of medications.
- Navigating regulatory requirements in different African countries.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have initiated the final MVP development and testing of our platform. Secured interest from 40 initial clients.
What we learned
Throughout this journey, we learned the importance of resilience and adaptability. We gained deep insights into the healthcare needs of African communities and the complexities of building a healthcare platform that meets these needs efficiently.
