Inspiration

We have niche websites like Letterboxd that give us a community of like-minded people a place to discuss movies and what we love so much about them. It is a nice feeling to be able to share that passion with others, so naturally, we wanted to do the same with music. Until we realized, there are almost no social media websites out there that offer for music what Letterboxd does for movies. That's when we decided to create LyricLink.

What it does

It is a social media website built for users to come together, create an account, and start rating, listening, and discussing their favorite artists, albums, and singles with other people.

How we built it

We built our front-end with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, while using the Django framework for our backend database to store our user information and comments.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting the front-end to our back-end was the most difficult part of the process. Unfortunately the app could not have all the integrations we wanted in a 24-hour period.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the design we were able to create in a small 24-hour timeframe.

What we learned

We learned what it takes to create a social media website, interfacing with APIs and implementing it into user applications.

What's next for LyricLink

We will see if this million dollar idea will come to fruition if we dedicate ourselves to it!
