Inspiration

The project began with a simple but universal ache: the love we never speak aloud. “You’re always at the back of my mind” became the thread that pulled the entire piece together — a quiet confession, never quite said. This song is about those friendships that feel like more but stay undefined. I wanted to create a soft, cinematic story that explores the weight of words unspoken, the tension in stolen glances, and the beauty of simply being near the one you love — even if you never say it out loud.

What it does

Back of My Mind is a cinematic synth-pop music video that blends soft AI-generated visuals, intimate lyrics, and gentle harmonies to portray emotional restraint and unspoken connection. Drawing from dream pop and ambient ballad styles, the song and visuals explore what it means to love someone quietly — to carry them like a melody you never finish. Through misty rooftops, golden rivers, and moments of stillness, the video reflects the emotional weight of almost-love that lingers long after the moment has passed.

How we built it

Lyrics & Music: Written in a soft, introspective synth-pop style with dream-pop textures and alt-pop storytelling. Produced using Suno AI’s vocal and arrangement capabilities, carefully tuned for emotional warmth and cinematic tone. Final audio was refined using Cakewalk Sonar to balance atmospheric layers with vocal intimacy.

Visuals: Character stills and scenic images were generated with Freepik AI, with supporting shots from MidJourney to capture delicate lighting and emotion-rich composition. Every prompt was designed with continuity and character placement in mind, especially for emotional expressions and environmental mood.

Animation: Key stills were animated via Freepik’s img2video, preserving the stillness of emotion while gently introducing movement through camera zooms, wind, and light.

Editing: Edited in CapCut to align visuals precisely with the lyric pacing. Scenes were timed to key emotional moments and transitions in the song, emphasizing silence, breath, and pause.

Workflow Highlights:

Visual prompts matched to emotional tone per section of the lyrics.

Character continuity ensured across scenic, rooftop, and memory-based shots.

Timing aligned to phrasing — especially during bridge and final chorus.

Naturalistic animation that supports stillness rather than over-motion.

Challenges we ran into

Capturing subtle emotion in a genre that thrives on restraint.

Making “almost nothing” feel like everything — scenes had to breathe.

Ensuring Lyra’s gaze, body language, and the silence in each frame told the story without narration.

Balancing mood shifts: melancholy, hope, tension — all within soft boundaries.

Avoiding visual overstatement — the story relies on pauses and ambiguity.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

Delivered a visually poetic MV that resonates with audiences who’ve experienced unspoken love.

Preserved the quiet tension of the narrative without dramatic framing.

Seamlessly integrated Suno AI vocals and Freepik video tools into a polished and emotionally cohesive MV.

Received heartfelt comments from fans sharing similar “almost” love stories.

Continued growing the LYRA universe with a consistent tone and character identity.

What we learned

Stillness can be as powerful as motion when supported by strong songwriting.

Visual nuance — lighting, eyes, empty space — plays a huge role in emotional resonance.

The most powerful MVs don’t explain — they let the audience feel their own memories.

Simplicity in structure allows emotion to take the lead.

What’s next for LYRA Music – Back of My Mind | Cinematic Synth-Pop Ballad

This video continues LYRA’s emotional journey through love, memory, and connection. Coming next:

Introducing new perspectives on connection: strangers, friends, moments missed.

Experimenting with soft-focus AI storytelling using less overt movement.

Expanding into a short-story style series, with each song as a standalone vignette of longing and what-if moments.

The goal is to keep building a cinematic alt-pop universe where every lyric holds a story — and every silence, a meaning left behind.
