Description

Have you ever wanted to connect with many people in a short time during a professional networking event? Do you have a large stack of business cards from recruiters or other company representatives when all you really needed was to add them on LinkedIn? Can you make a strong first impression on a fellow professional through one of the most ancient and revered greetings of all time: the firm handshake?

What is Lynx?

Lynx is a smartwatch application developed for the InWatchZ that changes networking by connecting two parties on social networking platforms literally with just a handshake. With Lynx, you no longer need paper resumes, business cards, or a good memory to memorize everyone’s names. Lynx is especially pertinent with the new wave of smartwatches, as it is noninvasive and intuitive, leveraging the pervasive social custom of the handshake.

How does Lynx work?

First, the user signs into their social networking accounts (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Google) on Lynx via the respective APIs. Using the InWatch's built in gyroscopic sensor and 6-axis sensor, Lynx then defines and listens for a handshake, triggering a local Bluetooth connection to the other Lynx device. Once connected, the two watches can transmit data to one another, such as contact information and LinkedIn IDs.

What's next?

We envision that Lynx will connect users across all social platforms without any hassle. Lynx allows both parties to make connections on large, existing online based social networks without needing to manually extract data from print mediums and searching online on every platform for the other user.

Our target market currently includes attendees at professional networking events such as career fairs or corporate networking events. We are currently focusing on supporting LinkedIn, and will be integrating Facebook and Google+ next. As an even more ambitious goal, we also hope to expand the scope of Lynx into social functions, such as parties and the workplace.

We know that wearables provide unique opportunities for technology to shape the way we interact. Lynx is noninvasive, easy to use, and is sure to make a difference with every handshake.
