Inspiration
We were really inspired by the app “notion” to create our project. We wanted to create a website that would allow users to improve productivity by giving them access to many features that would improve their work ethic or personal goals.
What it does
This project provides the user the opportunity to use the website as they will in order to improve their own productivity. For example, a user may be looking to increase their productivity but not want to use an agenda or a tracker, rather something that just keeps them calm mentally and gets them motivated. In that sense, our project has features where it can take you directly to music platforms, as it is proven that healing music can soothe the mind. If a user is looking to keep things organized, our project provides a calendar so they can track their deadlines.
How we built it
We built this project using the website maker “wix” and created our designs there. Our code was created in DrJava, the IDE for the Java language.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we faced were making things much more appealing to the eye on our website. We wanted to use a simple color scheme that would give a calming effect to the user as they navigated the features it provides, but, at the same time, keep some sort of aesthetic theme. We also struggled a little with brainstorming, as we did not know which ideas to make reality or discard.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud of the overall design and layout of our website. Though the members had little time on their hands to work on this, the overall aesthetic that we came up with was really appealing and captured the goal of productivity well. We were able to make separate sections for features, contact pages, and whatnot.
What we learned
Aside from logistics, I think my team learnt most about time management. Initially we had assumed this wouldn’t take long, but it did take longer than expected and we have regrets of not completely being able to finish some parts, such as adding on the tracking features. We also learnt some new programming techniques that allowed our code to be more efficient.
What's next for lyfe hacks
We think we want to fully add on features to our project such as timers, statistic trackers, calendars, etc. after we are done with the aesthetic aspect of it. We want to make it customizable to the user so everyone has a chance at tracking and managing their responsibilities.
