LYCA is a privacy-first family connection companion designed to help people, especially young women living away from their families, feel safe, supported, and connected without feeling constantly monitored.

Moving away from home for education, work, or independent living can be exciting, but it can also leave families worrying about everyday safety and wellbeing. LYCA addresses this gap by creating a trusted connection between users and their chosen family members through mutual consent, daily routine reminders, personal check-ins, and two-way communication.

Users can create a trusted circle by inviting parents or other trusted people. Connections become active only after the invited person accepts. Users remain in control of what they share, when they check in, and which reminders or updates reach their family. LYCA is designed around reassurance and independence, not continuous surveillance.

How LYCA Works

Trusted family circle: Invite parents or trusted people and establish a connection through mutual acceptance. Personal routines: Create reminders for everyday activities and choose which updates to share. Simple safety check-ins: Send reassuring updates such as “I'm okay” or “I'm on my way.” Two-way communication: Enable family members to respond and stay connected through a shared service. Connected home experience: Explore how voice assistance, messaging, home events, and a family TV dashboard can work together through the Amazon ecosystem.

Amazon Technology

LYCA is being developed around an integrated experience spanning Alexa+, Ring, and Fire TV, with a self-hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) service supporting the conversational assistant architecture. SMS provides an additional communication channel for family invitations and notifications.

The current project includes a web application and supporting backend, with interfaces for the family dashboard and conversational experience. Real service delivery depends on the corresponding developer access, credentials, and platform-specific integration setup. Actual Bee-device integration is not currently available because compatible hardware or authenticated Bee data is unavailable.
