Inspiration

The fashion industry faces a major challenge in online shopping — customers can't try products before buying, leading to high return rates and low confidence in purchases. I was inspired to bridge this gap by combining augmented reality and artificial intelligence into one seamless shopping experience.

What it does

Lux-Arc is a smart online fashion platform that allows users to:

  • Virtually try on clothing, hats, and necklaces in real-time using YouCam technology
  • Analyze their skin condition automatically to receive personalized product recommendations
  • Chat with an AI Advisor powered by Groq AI to get style recommendations tailored to their preferences
  • Install instantly as a Progressive Web App — no app store required

How I built it

Lux-Arc is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA) using modern web technologies. I integrated the YouCam API to handle real-time virtual try-on and skin analysis features. For the AI Advisor, I connected Groq AI API to deliver fast, intelligent fashion recommendations. The entire app is optimized for mobile-first experience.

Challenges I ran into

One of the most unique constraints of this project — I built Lux-Arc entirely on a smartphone. No laptop, no desktop. This pushed me to be resourceful, efficient, and creative with every tool and workflow available on mobile.

Beyond that, integrating multiple APIs (YouCam + Groq AI) and ensuring real-time performance within a lightweight PWA required careful planning and optimization.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Successfully delivering a full-stack PWA with AR virtual try-on, skin analysis, and AI-powered recommendations — all as a solo developer, all built from a smartphone.

Not despite the limitations, but through them.

What I learned

I deepened my understanding of PWA development, AR-based APIs, and AI integration. I also learned how to design user experiences that make complex technology feel simple and accessible.

What's next for Lux-Arc

  • Expand product catalog with more fashion categories
  • Add personalized size recommendations based on body analysis
  • Integrate payment gateway for full e-commerce experience
  • Launch multi-vendor support for fashion brands
