Inspiration
I was inspired by tower defense games like Bloons TD 6 and Kingdom Rush.
What it does
Lunchbox Last Stand is a mobile tower defense game. The player protects a sandwich from insects inside a lunchbox. The player places food towers on napkin pads beside a crumb trail. Each tower has a different job, such as blocking, slowing, freezing, spraying, or attacking enemies. Enemies move along the trail toward the sandwich. If they reach it, they take a bite and lower the sandwich’s health. The main twist is the Freshness system. Food towers wear down as they work. The player must decide when to build, upgrade, refresh, sell, or risk using a weaker tower.
How we built it
I used ChatGPT to create visual concept images and help brainstorm the game idea. I used ChatGPT and Claude to help organize and write the project documents.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge was that i am new to creating game design documents so i had to make sure the systems and documents where clear to understand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I wanted to design a game that felt easy to understand but still had a unique twist, the Freshness system.
What we learned
We learned that game design is more than having a fun idea. A strong game also needs clear rules, a strong core loop, balanced systems, and a plan for how it could be built.
What's next for Lunchbox Last Stand
The next step for Lunchbox Last Stand is to turn the design into a playable game. Start with a small prototype that includes the core loop. The first version would include basic tower placement, enemy waves, freshness system, and basic maps. After that, we would test the game and improve the balance.
