Lunch is a universal human activity. The daily lunch period offers us an incredible opportunity for social bonding - to meet new people, share life stories, and make new friends. Yet, for many, lunch has devolved into eating alone at the work desk or rushing through a drive-thru meal, symptoms of a broader decline in in-person social intercourse and engagement. Research demonstrates that levels of happiness and social interaction are positively correlated. LunchBond aims to address our decline in social capital and increase overall human happiness by motivating people to consistently go out for lunch together. We offer a unique, dual incentive structure not found in the food or social app space. LunchBond is also the first app to offer strong incentives for social dining. We partner with restaurants and entertainment venues to offer discounts and deals based on a user’s quantity and quality of social activity. Our system offers a tiered set of discounts and deals that reward social lunchtime engagement with strangers and recurring social engagement at participating venues. Hometown differences, generational gaps, and diversity of likes add to discount amount. Unique to our app is a third-party validation system of social activity through a commercial transaction. Restaurants and venues also have an incentive to participate. Restaurants that offer discounts through our platform stand to gain more customers and new referrals since we reward engagement between strangers. First-time visitors to a venue get a bonus discount, further encouraging referrals. Restaurants and venues (such as movie theaters) can also keep metrics of the customers that visit through LunchBond, and offer discounts at specific times to relieve distressed inventory. We hope LunchBond improves the future of lunch and increases the overall happiness of society. http://demo.lunchbond.com
