Lunacy AI - Resurrection Project Story
About the Project
Satanic Panic is a short film-style music video that blends Lunacy’s thrash metal roots with modern AI-driven visuals. It reimagines the 1980s/90s era of moral hysteria when heavy metal was demonized as dangerous and corrupting. The project combines pounding riffs, noir-inspired imagery, and AI-generated storytelling to show how fear, faith, and rebellion collided during that cultural moment.
What Inspired Me
As a metalhead who lived through the real “Satanic Panic,” I saw firsthand how music was blamed for everything from teenage rebellion to the downfall of society. Lunacy was born in that atmosphere — underground, loud, and unapologetic. This project is both a tribute to those days and a commentary on how quickly society can turn art into a scapegoat. The inspiration was to let history “scream through distortion” again.
What I Learned
I learned how powerful AI can be when it comes to translating raw emotion into visuals. I discovered that by combining my old band’s energy with modern tools, I could tell stories in a way that feels cinematic, even on a shoestring budget. I also learned how much the “panic” of that era mirrors today’s fears about technology and culture.
How I Built It
Music & Sound: Original Lunacy roots, with AI-assisted soundscapes created using Suno.
Visuals: Generated in OpenArt and stylized through LTX Studio to capture a noir, chaotic tone.
Editing: Assembled in Filmora/CapCut, layering visuals with pacing to match the song’s intensity.
Storytelling: Scripted around the themes of hysteria, repression, and resistance.
Challenges I Faced
One major challenge was keeping the visuals consistent — AI tools often created variations that didn’t fully match the style. I had to refine prompts and reuse frames to maintain continuity. Another challenge was syncing the energy of the music with the imagery so it felt raw, not artificial. Finally, revisiting this dark subject matter brought back memories of how misunderstood metal culture was, which added emotional weight to the process.
