Luna vs Terra
When I received the email from OpenAI Build Week, the deadline was just a few days away. But I was eager to participate and see how far I could push the idea in such a short time. So I set myself the challenge: create a fully playable collectible card game in just three days using ChatGPT and Codex.
The game intentionally doesn't try to reinvent the genre. Instead, I wanted to recreate mechanics already familiar to players from popular collectible card games. My goal was to show that systems that typically require an entire team—gameplay programming, UI, graphics, audio, gameplay, and content—can now be prototyped incredibly quickly by a single developer using modern AI tools.
Everything was created in Godot.
Throughout development, ChatGPT helped me think through the architecture, mechanics, UI, story, balancing, sound design, and even the visual direction of the project. It also created concept art for maps, heroes, interface design ideas, and story illustrations that shaped the game's identity.
Codex became my programming partner. It helped implement and redesign significant parts of the game's systems, UI, enemy AI, audio system, menus, and many other features. Instead of spending hours writing boilerplate code or debugging repetitive code, I was able to work on the project much faster and focus on making design decisions.
The biggest challenge wasn't the coding, but simply time.
Three days isn't enough to create the game I originally envisioned. There are still features and tweaks I'd like to add, and if I had another week, I would definitely continue improving it. But that wasn't the goal of this competition.
The goal was to see how much one person could create in an extremely short time, using AI as a creative partner.
Looking back, I'm genuinely pleased with the result. Luna vs Terra became much more than just a small prototype—it demonstrated how AI can significantly speed up game development on its own.
For me, that's the most exciting part.
AI didn't replace my creativity or my solutions.
It removed obstacles, accelerated implementation, and allowed me to spend more time creating rather than struggling with tools.
