Inspiration
Covid-19 has been with us for over a year, and many parents have been working from home. It's hard to differentiate work from family life now. Parents now find it challenging to find time to educate their children, especially those who have just started to learn to speak. They can't just assign them a book to read since they can hardly recognise any words yet.
What it does
Kids are naturally curious. Luna is able to help fulfil kids curiosity, and this can eventually ease the parents' burden. Toddlers can simply turn the application camera to any object they would like to recognise, and the app will speak the object out for them. However, this application currently is limited to basic / general objects only. Besides, they can test themselves with voice recognition.
How I built it
- Flutter
- Tensorflow
Challenges I ran into
This is my first ever project integrated with machine learning. I was having difficulties in learning how to integrate machine learning into an application. After the help of multiple forums, I finally understood how it should be done. I definitely have more to learn in the time coming.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Proud to be able to come up with my first machine learning application.
What I learned
I have learnt to look into daily problems or struggles for new ideas of innovation.
What's next for Luna for Kidz
The machine learning model is only limited to general/basic objects. Looking forward to training more models to improve the efficiency of application.
