Inspiration

Travel planning is stressful for most people—78% say it’s a pain point. We wanted to flip that experience by making planning feel less like a chore and more like a fun, immersive story that connects emotionally.

What it does

Lumo transforms travel planning into an illustrated, interactive storytelling adventure. Instead of checklists, users follow a character whose journey mirrors their own, making itinerary creation playful, personalized, and memorable.

How we built it

We combined storytelling techniques with personality quizzes to customize travel recommendations. The platform integrates rich illustrations and dynamic content that evolves based on user choices, creating a seamless narrative experience.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating the frontend and backend was a major hurdle. Ensuring smooth communication between the interactive story elements and the data-driven recommendations required significant coordination and troubleshooting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully crafted a unique travel planning experience that people found enjoyable and emotionally engaging, reducing stress and increasing user enthusiasm for planning trips.
