What it does

The idea of moving to a nursing home is generally associated with a negative stigma. Leaving the home that one has spent all their life building and making souvenirs to an unknown final-destination sort of environment can be a scary experience. Our main project is based on the concept that old adults shouldn’t have to move from their own residence to a nursing home. The project extends beyond nursing homes.

The idea is a big improvement of the community service already offered by Hoivatilat. The role of the community is to bring all needed services and accommodation to the same building or quarter in city center. This means the people in different ages could live close to each other and the communication could be easier. That creates the dream community between the people. The community brings the feeling of safety and togetherness for its residents.

How we built it

We looked at studies and statistics for background. We made ID-cards of different customers for developing ideas. We also made short interviews at city center of Rovaniemi. The final idea came by discussing together in team based on what we have discovered.

We are proud of our final concept that is a overall solution to our design problem.
