InspirationDuring my daily commute, I noticed how many people rely on e-rickshaws to cover short distances to offices, markets, metro stations, or malls. Despite the growing EV revolution, there’s still no affordable, stylish, and shared electric car built specifically for short-distance transport. That’s where LUMIQ was born — to bring futuristic yet affordable shared EVs for those who can't afford bikes or cars but still deserve better daily travel.
What it does LUMIQ builds compact, electric sedans for short-distance shared urban travel. These vehicles are designed for comfort, safety, and affordability, targeting gig workers, students, and city dwellers who currently rely on e-rickshaws or public transport.
How we built it LUMIQ is currently at the concept and prototyping stage. The project involved market research on last-mile EV mobility, competitive analysis of BYD & Ola Electric, and sketching UX-inspired vehicle designs optimized for space, modular battery systems, and shared ride tech.
Challenges we ran into Balancing affordability with aesthetics and safety.
Building an EV strategy from scratch without a technical co-founder.
Raising initial support without a working prototype.
What we learned There is a massive underserved market for short-distance EVs in India.
Good design and tech must be democratized — not reserved for premium buyers.
Investors care about both vision and practicality — and simplicity is powerfull
