Inspiration We were inspired by the problem of light pollution in cities, which hides the night sky, harms health, and disrupts nature. We wanted to create a solution that would reduce this pollution while also making cities more beautiful and sustainable. By taking ideas from nature and art, we created LuminoTree to help people enjoy the stars again and improve urban spaces.

What it does LuminoTree reduces light pollution in cities by using nature-inspired lighting, community art, and smart technology. Our project includes streetlights that mimic natural light, lights that adjust based on activity, and public art that glows softly at night. These features work together to cut down on excess light, save energy, and make urban areas safer and more beautiful.

How we built it We would build LuminoTree by combining simple technology and creative ideas. We use energy-saving LEDs, smart sensors, and basic AI to create lighting that reduces light pollution. We also work with local artists to create glowing art installations that brighten public spaces without adding more light pollution. Additionally, we made sure to involve the community at every step to ensure the project met their needs.

Challenges we ran into One of the main challenges would be making sure our lights were bright enough for safety but not too bright to add to light pollution. We would also have to work hard to include community feedback while keeping our project on track. Balancing these needs took time and careful planning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We’re proud of creating a lighting system that cuts down on light pollution and makes urban areas more beautiful and sustainable. We’re also proud of how we worked with the community and brought together artists, engineers, and residents to create something everyone can enjoy.

What we learned We learned that working with the community is key to solving big problems like light pollution. We also saw how combining technology with art and nature can create simple, effective, and beautiful solutions. This project taught us a lot about balancing different needs, like safety and sustainability, to create something that works for everyone.

What's next for LuminoTree Next, we plan to bring LuminoTree to more cities and improve our technology to make it even more effective. We want to add features like augmented reality to show clear night skies in light-polluted areas and keep refining our smart lighting systems. We also hope to work with more cities and groups to spread the idea of dark-sky-friendly urban areas and make a bigger impact.
