LUMINA is a a Bio-Architectural OS designed to neutralize biological entropy. By leveraging Gemini 3 Multimodal Vision Intelligence, LUMINA audits your physical environment in real-time, identifying spectral stressors and synchronizing your space with the human Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (SCN).

Inspiration: The War on Biological Entropy

Humans in high-density smart cities like Dubai spend 90% of their time indoors under "junk" artificial light. This creates a chronic Circadian Mismatch—where our brain's master clock (the SCN) is confused by blue-light saturation at night or dim yellow light during peak productivity hours. This leads to metabolic friction, sleep decay, and reduced focus. LUMINA was inspired by the first principle of longevity: The best medicine is an environment that aligns with your DNA.

What it does

LUMINA transforms any standard camera into a high-precision biological sensor.

**Multimodal Spectral Audit:* SNAP or STREAM live video. LUMINA uses Gemini 3 to analyze Correlated Color Temperature (Kelvin), Intensity (Lux), and spectral stressors directly from raw pixels.

  • 0-100 Circadian Support Score: It calculates a real-time "Bio-Mismatch" index by cross-referencing environmental telemetry with the current Dubai GST (UTC+4) solar cycle.
  • Agentic IoT Actuation: It doesn’t just "alert" you; it generates deterministic Matter v1.3 JSON payloads. These protocols are designed to physically override smart lighting, HVAC, and blinds via a conceptual Digital Dubai iPaaS bridge.
  • Dubai Longevity Vectors: It provides a proactive roadmap, guiding users to specific "Solar Anchors" (e.g., Kite Beach or Al Qudra) based on their current biological deficit.

🚀 How we built it

LUMINA is built as a high-speed recursive loop powered by Gemini 3 Flash:

**Multimodal Inference:* We leveraged Gemini 3’s native ability to "see" pixels and "understand" time simultaneously, extracting scientific data without external sensors. **Strict JSON Enforcement:* Used Gemini's responseSchema to ensure 100% deterministic output for IoT control, eliminating AI hallucinations. **Frontend Architecture:* Developed with React 19 (Concurrent Mode) and Tailwind CSS for a "Space Black" minimalist UI that respects the user's melanopsin levels. **Grounding:* Integrated the Intl API for surgical Dubai time-zone grounding and pre-defined Dubai Spatial Vectors.

🧠 Challenges we ran into

The biggest hurdle was Latency-to-Actuation. Initially, analyzing complex visual scenes and generating precise Matter payloads took too long for a "live" feel. We solved this by optimizing our System Instructions and leveraging the high-speed reasoning of Gemini 3 Flash, reducing the round-trip from 5 seconds to under 1.2 seconds. We also had to build a robust "Asset Ingestion" pipeline to allow users to audit spaces via uploaded photos without losing temporal context.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully moved Gemini 3 beyond a "Chatbot" and turned it into a Robotic Controller. We are proud to have built a tool that complies with the UAE Data Protection Law (No. 45 of 2021) through Zero-Knowledge edge processing—visual data is processed in-memory and never persisted. We created a system where the AI isn't just "talking" to the user; it's architecting their reality.

What we learned

We learned that Vision is the ultimate proactive sensor. Wearables tell you how you already slept; LUMINA Vision tells you how you will sleep based on the photons currently hitting your retinas. We realized that by grounding AI in specific geographical metadata (Dubai GST), we can create "Locally Aware Intelligence" that feels like a native part of the city.

What's next for LUMINA: The Circadian Urban OS

Our vision is "Sovereign Longevity." We plan to:

  1. District-Wide Sync: Scaling LUMINA from individual rooms to district-level lighting control in DIFC and Expo City.
  2. Bio-Feedback Loops: Integrating wearable EEG data to create a closed-loop system where building lights pulse at exact frequencies to induce Deep Sleep.
  3. Holographic Actuation: Moving the UI into AR/VR to show users the invisible "spectral stressors" in their room through the lens of LUMINA.
